Congresswoman Barbara Comstock released the following statement after her legislation, the INSPIRE Women Act, passed the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation:
“The U.S. Senate Commerce Committee passed the INSPIRE Women Act this week bringing this bipartisan legislation that much closer to being passed by the full Senate and then signed into law by the President. I appreciate Senator Dean Heller (R-NV) taking this up in the Senate and look forward to the bipartisan passage of this legislation so young girls who aspire toward STEM careers can be our next generation leaders in the STEM fields.”
The INSPIRE Women Act authorizes the NASA Administrator to encourage women and girls to study science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, known as the STEM fields, and to pursue careers that will further advance America’s space science and exploration efforts through support of initiatives such as NASA GIRLS and NASA BOYS; Aspire-Inspire; and the Summer Institute in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Research.
