If you’re looking for a great way to help your kids beat the heat this summer, check out the summer camp options at the Prince William Ice Center. Camps run from 9:00 a. m. to 5:00 p. m. daily and each camp session is one week long. Sign up for one session or stay for them all!

“One of the best things about our Fun Camp is that it gives kids a chance to learn a unique skill indoors away from the overwhelming DC summer humidity. And when it comes to bang for your buck, we are priced extremely competitively,” said R.J. Zeigler, general manager at Prince William Ice Center.

Since enrollment is limited, children get a lot of guidance from their coaches. Each camp has around 30 students and there is always a good student/teacher ratio.

Learn to Skate Fun Camp

Whether your child is dazzled by figure skating or wants to eventually move on to be a hockey player, this camp is great to teach children skating fundamentals. Camp is open to various levels of skaters. The curriculum is designed for skaters with little or no experience up to skaters who have begun to work on single jumps and basic spins.

Campers will learn skating fundamental skills like basic balance, edge recognition and control and stride. Off the ice, campers will enjoy arts and crafts and sports like soccer and kickball, along with making a few new friends over summer break.

Learn to Play Hockey Camp

If your child is interested in hockey, this is the right camp to foster essential skills. Campers will learn skating fundamentals of basic balance, edge recognition and control, stride. They will also learn basic puck skills like shooting, passing and stick handling.

This camp gives children three hours of ice time each day to help them build their hockey skills. They also participate in games and other sports off-ice to help them improve their hockey technique.

Register Now

If you’re thinking of registering your child, Zeigler advises to do so “the sooner the better. We typically limit camps to 30 kids unless we have ice time and staff to expand to extra sessions which is never guaranteed. Take advantage of our Early Bird Registration Discounts. Register by April 30 and get $30 off one registration.”

Camps will run June 17 through 21, June 24 through 28, July 8 through 12, July 22 through 26, August 5 through 9, and August 12 through 16. Camps are for children ages 5 to 11 years old.
