Holiday Village Workshop

Learn about and partake in a time-honored tradition in holiday crafting – the creation of miniature decorative houses and villages. Instructor Lois Montgomery will demonstrate and share materials and techniques used to create adorable “Putz Houses” in the manner of Eastern European Christmas ornaments and displays. All supplies provided for each participant to make and finish one structure. Family and friends who register together may be seated together; single registrants will be assigned individual tables. All will be arranged for social distancing. Contact ARTfactory for details. Class held in the spacious Art Gallery. Two session options.

ARTstars WORKSHOP: Hayao Miyazaki

Spend three lessons inspired by the amazingly creative Hayao Miyazaki, co-founder of Ghibli Studios in Japan. Miyazaki is an important originator and innovator of the anime and manga art forms, and his themes and motifs evoke beautiful, heartfelt stories of courage and compassion. Art lessons will explore his style of drawing and his skill in providing a richly detailed context for his characters. Supplies provided. For ages 9 to 16.

Art Journaling

Art journaling is a wonderful practice that may enhance creativity and wellness. Join artist Russ Petcoff as he shares various ways the art journaling habit may be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of their art background and experience level. Interactive lessons via Zoom will include themes for daily drawing, the fun of sharing art on social media, and the therapeutic benefits of art journaling for memory building and lifelong learning.  Suggested supplies include a portable sketchbook, pencils, eraser, markers, micro pens, colored pencils, pencil sharpener, sable brush, watercolors and water cup. For ages 15 to adult.

Qigong Class for Beginners

Empower yourself by learning to cultivate your Qi (energy) using self-healing movements, breathing & posture techniques of Qigong. Relax your body, quiet your mind and uplift your spirit. Qigong is an ancient Chinese wellness practice that combines gentle meditative movements with breath regulation and visualization techniques. Qigong, suitable for all fitness levels, has been shown to improve sleep quality, lower blood pressure, improve balance and overall health. This introductory class is suitable for both first-time students and those continuing from previous sessions. We will proceed through basics and include advanced movements such as Opening the Small Circuit and Golden Qi Ball Protocol. Through the use of Qigong motions and mindfulness, one can harmonize, strengthen and improve the functions of internal organs and bodily systems. For Teens and Adults.

Line Dancing Classes

Come celebrate three December evenings in a healthy and fun way! Join Cookie Bell for line dancing in  the spacious art gallery. Cookie will lead a class designed to get reconnected and moving in a safe and joyful environment. We will make all accommodations to keep dancers spaced out, learning and enjoying the community happiness that defines us. Pre-registration is required, enrollment limited to eleven students – don’t miss out!
