Christmas dinner is often the highlight of the festive season, with many families and friends gathering to enjoy a delicious meal. When it comes to a traditional Christmas menu, many dishes come to mind. From savory roasted meats and hardy vegetables to festive desserts, you can create a menu full of mouthwatering treats for your family this holiday season. Whether you’re one for tradition or like trying something new, here are some ideas on how to put together the perfect menu for your Christmas dinner celebration:

Christmas Ham

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole ham, 8-10 lbs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, pineapple juice, and Dijon mustard. Place ham in a large baking dish and pour the glaze over top. Bake for 2-3 hours or until heated through. basting every 30 minutes or so with the pan juices.

Roasted Turkey

Ingredients:

  • 1 (12 pound) whole turkey
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 1 celery stalk, chopped
  • 3 carrots, chopped
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons dried sage leaves
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme leaves
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 cups chicken broth

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. In a large roasting pan, combine the onion, celery, carrots, and butter. Rub the sage, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper all over the outside of the turkey. Add the turkey to the roasting pan breast side up. Pour chicken broth into the bottom of the pan. Roast for 3-4 hours, or until the internal temperature of the turkey reaches 165 degrees F. Baste with pan juices every 30 minutes or so.

Christmas Stuffing

Ingredients:

  • 1 (16 ounce) package stuffing mix
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 4 cups chicken broth

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

In a large bowl, combine the stuffing mix, onion, celery and butter. Pour in chicken broth and stir until moistened. Spread into a 9×13 inch baking dish and bake for 30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients:

  • 5 pounds potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

Place potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook for 15 minutes, or until tender. Drain and return potatoes to the pot. Add milk, sour cream, butter, salt and black pepper. Mash until smooth.

Green Bean Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 6 cups green beans, cooked and drained
  • 1 1/3 cups French fried onions

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a large bowl, combine condensed soup, milk and green beans. Pour into a 9×13 inch baking dish and top with French fried onions. Bake for 25 minutes, or until bubbly.

Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 (16 ounce) package cranberries
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions:

In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar and water. Cook over medium heat until the cranberries pop and the sauce thickens.

Pumpkin Pie

Ingredients:

  • 1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

In a large bowl, combine pumpkin puree, sweetened condensed milk, eggs, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Pour into pie crust. Bake for 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F and bake for 40 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center of the pie comes out clean.
