The members of the Prince William County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority (PWCAC DST), Incorporated will roll out the red carpet for local talent in its ninth annual Red Carpet Showcase for Emerging Artists, Authors and Musicians.  The free event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p. m. at Louise A. Benton Middle School, 7411 Hoadly Road, Manassas.  This year, NAACP Image Award winning author Victoria Christopher Murray will be featured.

Each year, this free program is provided for the community to encourage literacy and provide exposure to the performing and creative arts.  It is also an opportunity to highlight emerging talent.  “We are delighted to host this program another year, and I am very excited that Victoria Christopher Murray accepted our invitation again.  With her books about to become movies on Lifetime, I know she is in demand,“ said Melissa Davis, the PWCAC DST Arts and Letter Chairperson.

This program includes a meet and greet reception.  Guests can enjoy light refreshments, meet and talk with the six showcase artists, buy some special autographed items for the holiday season and perhaps win a great door prize.

This year’s talented lineup includes:

  • Christian fiction and NAACP Image Award winning author Victoria Christopher Murray. Murray recently signed a deal with Bishop T.D. Jakes and Lifetime to turn her Seven Deadly Sins series into films.
  • Vanessa Gattis, author of “Bullied! Coping with Workplace Bullying,”  who is a Prince William County resident.
  • Kitra Martindavis, poet and author of “a peace…for you,” is also a county resident.
  • T.H. Moore, author of the suspense thriller, “Devil’s Whisper”. He lives in Virginia.
  • Sandra B. Elmore, septuagenarian autobiographer that tells the story of being a 16 year old bride and mother of eight. Ms. Elmore is a Prince William County resident, and her book is titled, “The Autobiography of Miss Sandy B.”
  • Dammion Peaks, artist, designer and wood carver.  He resides in Mt. Rainer, MD.

The Red Carpet Showcase will also include members of PWCAC DST mentoring programs, Delta Academy for middle school aged girls and Delta G.E.M.S. for high school age girls.  A student from the Woodbridge High School Young Poet Laureates Circle will also participate.
