Holiday closings
All PWPLS branches will be closed Saturday, September 3, through Monday, September 5, for Labor Day.


September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month
Get your kids over age 5 their own library card and open up a world of information.


Launch Pads
Starting September 1, all eleven branches will have brand-new children’s educational tablets available for check-out.

All ages
September 17, 10:30 a. m. – 1:00 p. m.
Come to this family-friendly event and see Independent Hill Library’s shiny new pavilion. We’ll have a balloon artist and a live animal petting zoo complete with a photogenic parrot, unusual reptiles, and fuzzy ferrets! Explore the library and the entertainment, and then enjoy some refreshments. At 11:30 a. m., Supervisor Nohe will give a short presentation to welcome Independent Hill’s lovely new addition.
For students in 9th-12th grades

Online voting period Oct. 16 – Nov. 1
The Prince William Public Library System is celebrating its 65th anniversary in 2017. To commemorate this achievement, we’re inviting our high school community to design a limited-edition library card. After the top designs are selected, you’ll get to vote on your favorite library card design. More information on entering the contest will be available September 15.

Pinkalicious is turning 10 and we’re celebrating with “pinkatastic” games, crafts, and pink cupcakes! All ages. First come, first served until capacity is reached.

Our “Paws and Whiskers” series kicks off with a pet adoption event with the mobile adoption van, Pet Paws Express. Have fun and learn valuable pet care tips, too!

Homeschool Hub @ Your Library
Haymarket Gainesville
September 21, 1:30 – 3:30 p. m.
Brainstorm with your local librarians to help us better serve the homeschool community. There will be activities for the kids while the grownups meet and greet.
Goodreads Bingo Challenge
Adults, pick up a Bingo card beginning September 16 and turn it in by October 15 for the chance to win free books.

Play the SNACS® by 5 early literacy card games and use your senses to learn your SNACS: Shapes, Numbers, Alphabet, Colors, and Sounds. Learn to play the game and we’ll check each child’s skill level.
