The national premiere of the 60-minute documentary film “Tomorrow’s Leaders” will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16 at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. The museum is at 18900 Jefferson Davis Highway, Triangle.
The documentary explores youth leadership training by learning from the past. Cameras followed youth members of the Young Marines as they honored and met America’s veterans in Washington, D.C., Pearl Harbor, Guam and Iwo Jima. In Arizona, cameras captured the poignant meeting between youth and the remaining World War II Navajo Code talkers.
“It was an honor to produce the film and to meet and work with the youth as we traveled the world together,” said Dave Harl, filmmaker. “These young people are impressive. They are the ones that tell the story and interact with the people and events that changed history. The film clearly shows that honoring and learning from the past creates the leaders of tomorrow.”
The film was sponsored by the Marine Corps League, the Iwo Jima Association, and the American Legion. The screening will take place in the Museum’s Medal of Honor Theater, operated by the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation. The Foundation supports the Museum through a public-private partnership with the Marine Corps. It hosts events such as the screening of “Tomorrow’s Leaders” as part of its mission to preserve and promulgate Marine Corps history, traditions and culture, and educate all Americans of its virtues.
