After a warmer weekend, Virginia Department of Transportation crews are busy preparing for snow that is forecasted to fall starting early Tuesday morning through rush hour. Drivers should monitor forecasts and plan ahead for dropping temperatures and an impacted Tuesday morning commute. See National Weather Service forecast.

Crews will be pretreating roads today during the day and through rush hour with a special focus on critical locations such as bridges, ramps, overpasses, and turn lanes. VDOT asks drivers to give tanker trucks and trailing safety vehicles room to work. Pretreatment vehicles are heavy, not as agile as passenger vehicles, and require a larger turning radius.

Later today into tonight, trucks will stage along roadways, ready to treat roads with salt once snow begins to fall.
