Warrior Angels 8K Run/Walk

WestRash Charities, a Prince William County nonprofit charity dedicated to finding cures and providing hope for kids with cancer, will host the Warrior Angels 8K Run/Walk on Saturday, April 28 at 8:30 a. m. at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax Station.

This annual event brings together runners and walkers to raise money for pediatric cancer research, Make it Better MISSONs (experiences, entertainment and comfort items for kids currently in treatment) and family support services. Participants are encouraged to register early to receive reduced rates. Registration is available online until April 25.

“The Warrior Angels 8K was started in memory of my grandson Owen Wicks who died at the age of sixteen from osteosarcoma (bone cancer),” said Chris Rash, President of WestRash Charities. “This race is for all the Warrior Angels out there fighting for something. Warrior Angels don’t give up and they don’t back down,” added Rash.

Running enthusiast, walkers and all Warrior Angels are invited to participate or attend the event to raise awareness, funds and hope for the fight against childhood cancer. The 8K crushed gravel and partially paved course circumnavigates scenic Burke Lake, promising a picturesque run. Winners in eligible age groups will be recognized at the end of the race, along with top fundraisers.

The Warrior Angels 8K is family-friendly with activities like the 1 Mile Fun Run, entertainment and music. Participants are encouraged to form a team, bringing together family, friends and even their dogs (the course is dog and all-terrain stroller friendly) to challenge themselves to complete the 8K and raise additional funds.

Supporters don’t have to live in the Washington, D.C. Metro area to participate in the Warrior Angels 8K. Anyone can register online as a virtual participant and complete the 8K run or walk in their hometown.
