$50,000 Gift to Fund Six Home Repair Projects for Low-Income Homeowners and Park Beautification
In June, Exit Realty became a Cornerstone Sponsor of Habitat for Humanity Prince William County’s Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative with a generous gift of $50,000. Their sponsorship is helping to fund home repairs for six local low-income homeowners. As part of their sponsorship, EXIT Realty volunteers are participating this weekend at a home repair project and on a community development project at Marumsco Acre Lake Park in Woodbridge.
The partnership with EXIT Realty is exemplary of Habitat for Humanity’s Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative’s goal to serve more families by engaging residents and other community partners to revive neighborhoods and make them safe, inviting places to live.
To date, 94 volunteers have worked with Habitat for Humanity to provide minor exterior repairs, critical home repairs and weatherization services at the six home repair projects that EXIT sponsored. For the community development project at the park, area businesses are providing lunch, gloves and safety glasses for the 45 EXIT Realty volunteers who will work on that day of giving.
Prince William County Board of County Supervisor’s Woodbridge District Supervisor, Frank Principi, and the Prince William County Department of Public Works and Department of Parks and Recreation have also joined in the effort to provide staff, equipment and tools. The Woodbridge Potomac Communities Civic Association is providing sustainable plants to beautify the landscape.
From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, volunteers will clear shrubs, pick up trash, mulch all the planters and area around the pond and plant sustainable plants, trim overgrown branches, paint the picnic tables and benches, paint the basketball backboards, repair broken fence posts and paint the pavilions.
At the end of the work day (3:00 p.m.) there will be a Cornerstone Celebration at the park which will recognize EXIT Realty for their generosity and community spirit. A short program will include remarks from EXIT Realty, Habitat for Humanity, Collin Davenport from Congressman Gerald Connolly’s office, Woodbridge Supervisor Frank Principi, John Karhnak of the Woodbridge Potomac Communities Civic Association, and a litany, prayer and park blessing from Pastor Ron Jones of New Life Anointed Ministries.
Habitat for Humanity Prince William County is proud to partner with EXIT Realty. Together, we’re building a better community.
