The ARTfactory is once again opening its doors to darkness with the return of its haunted walkthrough attraction, Factory of Fear: The Horror Hotel, running Oct. 17, 18, 24, and 25 from 7 to 11 p.m., with a special preview night on Thursday, Oct. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m.
This year’s theme transforms the historic four-story ARTfactory building into the infamous “Horror Hotel,” a chilling reimagining inspired by the gruesome legacy of America’s first serial killer, H. H. Holmes. Guests who dare to enter will wind through corridors of terror, exploring each floor’s twisted tale of deception, despair, and deadly design.
Last year Factory of Fear exceeded expectations, making it one of ARTfactory’s most successful events to date. This year the team, led once again by Factory of Fear creators Ahryel Tinker and Talya Conroy, have pushed the concept even further. The Horror Hotel is unlike anything Manassas has seen before—an immersive, terrifying journey that brings visitors face to face with their darkest nightmares.
The event is made possible thanks to the dedication of community volunteers, who build, staff, and perform throughout the experience, as well as the support of longtime supporter Patriot Disposal. Together, they help transform the century-old building—already rumored to be haunted—into a fear-filled labyrinth.
In addition to the walkthrough, the ARTfactory will present the Factory of Fear Group Art Exhibit, “What the Walls Remember,” curated by Gallery Director Jordan Exum. Featuring works from approximately 60 artists in the DMV region, the exhibit runs Oct. 11 to Nov. 8, 2025, in the Caton Merchant Family Gallery. A free Artist Reception to accompany the exhibit will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. and will feature Factory of Fear costumed actors who will intensify the eerie ambiance of the event.
