Fall Season Filled with Arts & Entertainment at the Workhouse

This fall brings music, fun, laughter and great art to the Workhouse campus!  From back to ART school to “The Music of Nevermore”, just in time for Halloween, there is something for everyone.  On view in our galleries you will find a unique “books as art” exhibition, Inner Librare, or a latin American inspired exhibition,Suenos Americanos, and more!  On stage in the W-3 Theatre, attend monthly Cabaret performances, Cool Cow Comedy Nights and special holiday concerts.

Kick off the holiday season with Black Friday at the Workhouse!  An alternative to traditional crowded shopping malls, the Workhouse opens early for a special Black Friday celebration.  Visit over 100 Artists at the Workhouse to find that perfect gift for “that impossible to shop for person” on your list; or the perfect piece of art for your home, as a special holiday gift to yourself!  Music, food, fun and special holiday events around campus will enhance your experience and make it a day to remember!


  • Black Friday at the Workhouse will take place on November 29, 2013 from 9am – 7pm.   This day presents a local alternative to the dreaded national shopping day, including art works from more than 100 artists in 65 studios and 9 galleries.
  • The Workhouse will feature a series of holiday concerts and performances, ranging from a “Home for the Holidays” Cabaret to a children’s theater production “In Santa We Believe”.
  • Workhouse Education classes kick off this fall with Education Open House on September 7 from 12-3pm.  Fall classes begin on September 16.  Register atwww.workhousearts.org today!
  • 100 under 200: 100 artists exhibiting work priced less than $200 will take place in the McGuireWoods Gallery from November 9, 2013 – January 5, 2014.  An unrestrained gallery exhibit by the 100 Artists at the Workhouse exhibiting multiple works-of-art each priced less than $200.  Free flowing and ever changing; the exhibit will have new art on view each week.
