The Hylton Performing Arts Center is holding a Family Open House Sunday, Feb. 9 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The community is welcome at this event celebrating the opening of the new Hylton Center Education and Rehearsal Wing.
This event takes place in the new Wing between performances of Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia’s The Rainbow Fish. Tickets to The Rainbow Fish are not required to attend the Family Open House. Activities include live music, a selfie photo station, face painting, and interactive arts and crafts tables. Look for a kids’ community art project inspired by The Rainbow Fish, instrument petting zoos, snacks, and more!
Live music will be performed by Parent’s Choice Awards recipient Hot Peas ‘N Butter founder Danny Lapidus in the Large Rehearsal Hall. There will also be a The Rainbow Fish-themed coloring/worksheet station, and a sparkly aquatic-themed selfie station. Don’t miss the Unleash Your Inner Princess Contest info table for a chance to win tickets to Broadway Princess Party.
Children will also enjoy face painting by Edgemoor Art Studio, Inc. They’ll have an opportunity to participate in the creation of special community art project or try their hand at a musical instrument in the musical petting zoo. Finally, they can enter to win tickets to the April 26 performance of The Okee Dokee Brothers!
