For nearly forty years, Fauquier Community Theatre (FCT) has presented stories to delight local audiences on the Vint Hill Theatre stage with professional ambition and enthusiastic enjoyment. This June, FCT’s youngest actors will present Into the Woods, Jr. in seven performances across two weekends.

Directed by lifelong Fauquier county resident and educator Cathy Davis, and produced by Saralyn Aylor, Into the Woods, Jr. exudes humor, inspiration and life lessons. With a cast of 22 young men and women age 10-18, all roles are played by local teens.

“The cast has been fantastic,” says Davis. “Some of the veteran actors have stepped up to help inspire and guide the students that are newer to theatre. The crew and production team consist almost entirely of young adults. My greatest joy has been to bring out the talent of each cast member and help them surpass.”

The twisted comedic fairy tale is family-friendly. Featuring Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and his beanstalk, the Witch, Rapunzel, and other memorable characters, Into the Woods, Jr. is a shortened version of the Tony-award winning musical. There are no starring roles in this production, but rather a combination of many stories told from the perspective of the youthful eyes of the narrator. The characters are relatable and comedic.

“This is going to be a great show with some fresh faces and new talent. Even audience members who are familiar with Into the Woods will be surprised and excited to see our version.,” says Davis. “The show is full of humor; it is very funny.”

Tickets are available online at FCTstage.org and by calling the box office at (540) 349-8760. Performance dates are June 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17. Friday and Saturday curtain time is 7:00 p. m. and Sunday is 2:00 p. m.
