Forest Park Takes Gold and Silver at Virginia Scholastic Rowing State Championships

Forest Park Crew took away gold and silver medals at Day 1 of the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association’s State Championship Regatta on Saturday, May 6. Forest Park’s Men’s Novice 4 finished first in their Final with a time of 6:17 minutes and were named Virginia State Champions for 2017 in the Novice 4 category, earning gold medals and the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association Championship Trophy.

Forest Park’s Men’s Junior Novice 8 finished second in their qualifying heat and advanced to the Junior 8 Final. In the Junior 8 Final, Forest Park finished second with a time of 5:28.76 minutes. The Men’s Junior 8 silver medal secured Forest Park a spot to compete at the Scholastic Rowing Association’s National Championship Regatta in Camden, New Jersey on May 26 and 27, 2017.

Other Forest Park crews competing at Day 1 of the Virginia Scholastic Rowing State Championships were the Men’s Novice 8, which finished third in their heat, and the Women’s Novice 8, which finished fifth in their heat. Day 2 of the Virginia Scholastic Rowing Championship will be held on Saturday, May 13 at Sandy Run Regional Park in Fairfax County, Virginia.
