Girls on the Run of NOVA (GOTR NOVA) has appointed Katya Gimbel of KPMG, Silvia Lovato of PBS, Libby Smith of Hilton, and Alfonso Wright of Polaris, to its board of directors effective Jan. 1, 2022.
“We are delighted to welcome Katya, Silvia, Libby, and Alfonso as new members of our Board,” said Caroline Diemar, GOTR NOVA’s Executive Director. “The diverse backgrounds and skill sets brought by these individuals will greatly help advance our mission as we build back smarter and stronger from COVID.”
“We are thrilled to have Katya, Silvia, Libby, and Alfonso join the Board given their deep connections within our community,” said Rob Hargreaves, Board President of GOTR NOVA Board of Directors. “Each of them brings knowledge and relationships that will help make us stronger.”
About Katya Gimbel
Katya is an M&A Tax Managing Director at KPMG. She has joined the Board of Directors after four and a half years serving on the GOTR NOVA Associate Board. During that time, she was an integral part of the success of LUNAFEST and has volunteered at multiple GOTR 5K events. She holds a B.S. in Finance and Accounting from the University of Maryland and an M.S. in Taxation from American University and was an adjunct professor at American University for four years.
About Silvia Lovato
Silvia is a children’s interactive media producer turned researcher. As Sr. Director of Research and Evaluation, PBS KIDS Learning Technologies, she oversees activities related to the measurement of educational impact of PBS KIDS media, especially those using game data analytics. Silvia holds a Ph.D. in Media, Technology and Society from Northwestern University, where she focused on children using voice input technology to seek information. She also received a Bachelor’s in Journalism from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and a Master’s in Communication, Culture, and Technology from Georgetown University.
About Libby Smith
Libby is a Senior Director at Hilton. She holds a B.S. in Political Science and Government from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an MBA in Org and Management from Emory University.
About Alfonso Wright
Alfonso is the Chief Financial Officer at Polaris with over 20 years of experience in financial management. He holds degrees from Howard University and the Washington School of Photography.
About Girls on the Run of NOVA
Girls on the Run of NOVA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and one of the largest independent affiliates of Girls on the Run International, offering the Girls on the Run program for girls in elementary school and Heart & Sole for girls in middle school. GOTR NOVA programming is delivered over a 10-week season by trained volunteer coaches who guide and mentor girls through a rich curriculum.
