Girls on the Run® of NOVA (GOTR NOVA) is proud to announce Christen Smith’s appointment as the new President of the Board of Directors. Christen has served on the GOTR NOVA Board for the past three years and on the Associate Board for almost two years prior.

In her role as President, Christen will lead the Board of Directors in adhering to GOTR NOVA’s strategic plan, fundraising efforts, and organizational development to further Girls on the Run’s mission of inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident.

“While we are sad to see our previous Board President’s term come to an end, we are comforted knowing that Christen will lead the Board with dedication, vision, and a commitment to our organization’s mission,” said Caroline Woods, GOTR NOVA’s Executive Director.

With a background in team management, Christen brings a wealth of expertise and passion to our organization. Her commitment to empowering young girls and fostering healthy habits aligns perfectly with Girls on the Run’s mission and values.

“I am honored and excited to continue my time with Girls on the Run of Northern Virginia as the new President of the Board of Directors,” said Christen Smith. “I look forward to working with the incredible team as we continue to make a positive impact in the lives of young girls in our community.”

About Girls on the Run of NOVA

Girls on the Run of NOVA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit and one of the largest independent affiliates of Girls on the Run International. Offering the Girls on the Run program for students in elementary school starting in 3rd grade and Heart & Sole for students in middle school. GOTR NOVA programming is delivered over a 10-week season by trained volunteer coaches who guide and mentor girls through a rich curriculum that blends physical activity with life skill development to enable girls to adapt to whatever comes their way. At the end of the season, the team completes a 5K together, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset into motion.
