The Virginia Department of Transportation is asking travelers in Manassas to give feedback on a study of potential improvements for nearly three miles of Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) between Battleview Parkway and Godwin Drive.
The study is assessing existing traffic and safety conditions along Route 234 Business (Sudley Road), and significant backups and congestion that occur during morning and evening peak periods. Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) averages up to 50,000 vehicles a day within the study limits.
In lieu of an in-person presentation, VDOT invites residents and travelers to learn more and share feedback from home. View the presentation online to learn about existing traffic and safety conditions along Route 234 Business (Sudley Road), and give input and comments regarding corridor priorities by taking the online survey through June 16.
The study team will use this public feedback to help develop potential operational, safety and accessibility alternatives that will be evaluated and presented during a second opportunity for public comment planned later this fall.
The presentation and survey (also available in Spanish) and more study details are available at virginiadot.org/Route234SudleyStars. Comments can also be sent to meetingcomments@vdot.virginia.gov or to Mr. Bobby Mangalath, P.E., Virginia Department of Transportation, 4975 Alliance Drive, Fairfax, VA 22030.
Please note that this study does not set construction dates for any improvements, but develops proposed improvements that localities can pursue for funding.
This study is being completed through VDOT’s Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions (STARS) program that aims to identify cost-effective measures to improve safety and reduce congestion. The study is expected to be complete and posted online this winter.
