Your nominations help Prince William Living learn more about the organizations working every day to meet needs, create opportunities, support neighbors, and improve quality of life throughout Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park. They also give us an opportunity to share those stories with the broader community.

ABOUT THE GIVING BACK AWARD

Recognizing a Meaningful Body of Work

Giving back can look very different from one organization to another. Some nonprofits serve thousands of people. Others work intensively with a smaller number of families, students, veterans, patients, animals, or community members. The Giving Back Award is designed to recognize meaningful impact rather than simply the largest organization or highest number of people served.

Local Impact We consider the programs, services, resources, and direct community benefit provided in Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park.

Sustained Commitment We consider both an organization's history of service in our community and what it accomplished during the most recent year.

Meaningful Results We look at what changed because of the work, considering the organization's mission, the people it serves, and the depth and significance of its impact.

Who Is Eligible?

Eligible nominees must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that provide meaningful programs, services, or direct community benefit in Prince William County, the City of Manassas, and/or the City of Manassas Park.

Organizations do not have to be headquartered or maintain an office in Greater Prince William. However, organizations serving a larger geographic area must demonstrate a meaningful body of work specifically within our community. Northern Virginia, statewide, and national results are not considered local impact unless the organization can identify the portion attributable specifically to Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park.

HOW WINNERS ARE SELECTED

Looking at Impact From More Than One Angle

Eligible nominations are reviewed using a consistent judging process that considers both recent accomplishments and the organization's broader contribution to Greater Prince William.

Recent Impact What the organization accomplished in Greater Prince William during the most recent year.

Sustained Community Impact The organization's history and continued commitment to serving our community.

Depth and Significance How meaningful the work is to the people, families, groups, or communities it serves.

Community Reach How effectively the organization reaches the population it exists to serve, considered in relation to its mission.

Community Engagement How the organization involves volunteers, businesses, donors, schools, partners, and other community members in its work.

Demonstrated Results The facts, outcomes, examples, and other evidence showing what the organization's work has accomplished.

Numbers provide context, not rank. An organization serving fewer people may have a profound, long-term impact on those it serves. Judges consider the number of people reached together with the depth, significance, duration, and nature of the service provided.
