Isiah Britt Dougan, a fifth-grade student at Glenkirk Elementary School, is featured in Chelsea Clinton’s children’s book, “Start Now! You Can Make a Difference.” The book, geared toward elementary students, explains personal and global issues, and how young readers can make a difference in their own lives and communities. The book also shares stories of real kids making a difference, and Isiah is one of those kids.

When he was in second grade at Buckland Mills Elementary, Isiah gained national acclaim for his “Hand Sanitizer” Go Fund Me Project. His initiative was an effort to support students suffering the devastating effects of the Flint, Michigan water crisis. Isiah raised over $25,000, and each school in Flint received a two-year supply of hand sanitizer.

At the time, Isiah shared, “It doesn’t matter if you are small, you can still do big things.”

Today, Isiah continues to do big things. After his Go Fund Me Project, Isiah’s goal was to help homeless women and children. He currently volunteers and assists with fundraising for the Homeless Children’s Playtime Project in Washington, D.C.

Isiah’s passion to help others and to prove that kindness matters is Positively PWCS.
