The Global Affairs Discussion Group is opening its 2018 Election Wrap-up to the public on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 9:30 to 11.30 a.m. The event will include interactive roundtables and a keynote by John Fortier, Director of the Democracy Project at the Bipartisan Policy Center. Expert analysts and civic leaders will direct sessions on election outcomes and implications, covering topics such as partisanship, the political and social divide, how emotion plays into politics, implications for small businesses and more.
“We will analyze and reflect upon the consequences of the 2018 high-stakes midterm elections and what they mean for Virginia and for the nation,” says Prince William area business owner Astrid Ruiz Thierry, who is spearheading the event.
“We’ll be asking the important questions. What do the election results mean for the average citizen? What do they tell us beyond the political stage? To what extent did real life issues, versus political campaigning issues, affect the outcome? And more importantly, what can we learn from this election?”
The no-cost event will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax, 2709 Hunter Mill Road, Oakton Va. For more information, contact Dr. Klara Bilgin at klarabilgin@gmail.com or 301-997-3207.
