Governor Ralph Northam has approved Delegate Hala Ayala’s HB 201, a bill that enables voters to register to vote up to and including Election Day.

“I want to thank Governor Northam for approving this very important piece of legislation…” said Del. Ayala. “I am proud to see Virginia … allow voters to register to vote on the same day an election is held…”

Electoral reform legislation signed by the Governor this week includes no-excuse absentee voting, establishing Election Day as a state holiday, and extending in-person polling hours from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Delegate Ayala’s other passed legislation includes a bill that would study how the Commonwealth can guarantee retirement plans to all workers, and two bills that combat coal ash pollution. Additionally, she was the Chief Co-Patron of the Equal Rights Amendment.

Delegate Hala Ayala began her second term in the House of Delegates earlier this year. She is a cybersecurity expert and has been a resident of Prince William County for over 35 years.
