Historic Dumfries Virginia is excited to announce two Ghost Walks programs: “Return to the Shadows” and “Locked Inside” every Saturday in October (Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31).

About the Events

At 7:00 p.m., participants will hear spooky tales of ghostly occurrences during the outdoor walking tour of haunted locations near the Weems-Botts Museum. At 11:00 p.m., participants will go into the historic house to investigate for paranormal activity with an experienced and knowledgeable guide. Both programs will discuss the museum’s famous haunted history and give participants a chance to walk through Dumfries’s hallowed streets at night.

“Return to the Shadows” tickets are $18 for non-members and $16 for members. “Locked Inside” tickets are $75, and participants must monitor and track their health for seven days before the program’s date. For both, numbers are very limited and facial coverings are required. Tickets are available on Eventbrite and can also be accessed through HDVI’s website (historicdumfriesva.org/purchase-tickets/).

Halloween Tea

Don’t want to take part in small socially-distanced gatherings? Join Historic Dumfries Virginia’s Executive Director for a virtual Halloween Tea. The discussion will center around the spooky history of Halloween, local and regional ghost stories and lore, along with recipe and game ideas for hosting a party at home. This program is offered on Sunday, Oct. 11, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for non-members and $8 for members. Tickets are available on Eventbrite and can be accessed through HDVI’s website as well (historicdumfriesva.org/purchase-tickets/).
