The Northern Virginia Housing Expo is a good place to be for those looking to buy, rent or sell a home. PWL This year’s sixth-annual expo will be held between 10:00 a. m. and 3:00 p. m. on March 19 at Freedom High School, 15201 Neabsco Mills Road in Woodbridge, and will include 70 exhibits featuring information on apartment rentals, government assistance programs, first-time buying opportunities, mortgages and credit counseling.

Realtors and lending professionals from Prince William, Fairfax, Arlington and Loudoun counties and the cities of Alexandria, Falls Church and Fairfax and the town of Herndon will be on hand to answer questions.

Prince William County Housing Director Bill Lake said there will be a lot people can learn while they are at the expo. “They’re going to have a number of workshops that are free to the public, such as what you need to know about renting, what you need to know about buying. There’ll be credit counselors to help people with their credit scores and give them information about how to improve their credit scores.” Workshops will also include tips about first-time buyer assistance programs, finding rental assistance and local real estate market overviews.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn what they need to know to work with a realtor, what government programs are available in their communities, what it takes to qualify for a mortgage, where the most affordable housing is located and household budgeting.

The event is free and open to the public, Lake said. “It’s open to everyone – all renters, all owners – anyone that’s looking to rent or buy.”
