FAIRFAX: For the next two nights,Wednesday, Dec. 17 and Thursday, Dec. 18, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close the multiple lanes of I-395 at Seminary Road for a bridge demolition operation. Motorists should expect delays.

Both nights, starting at 9:30 p.m., crews will close one lane, followed by a second lane at 10:30 p.m. Between midnight and 4:30 a.m., all lanes will be closed intermittently for up to 30 minutes at a time.

This demolition work is taking place on the eastbound side of the Seminary Road overpass over I-395. The westbound side is scheduled to be demolished in spring 2015. Other elements of this project include an auxiliary lane on northbound I-395 between Duke Street and Seminary Road, a new I-395 high occupancy vehicle (HOV) ramp to Seminary Road and a new pedestrian bridge over I-395.
