What’s Happening
There are no planned lane closures from noon on Tuesday, Dec. 24, though noon on Thursday, Dec. 26, for the Christmas holiday.
Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project construction continues throughout the corridor during daytime and overnight hours as weather conditions allow. Current activities include (new or updated items are bolded):
- Bridge demolition at Route 29 in Centreville
- Constructing bridge foundations at Compton Road, Route 28, Route 123, Vaden Drive, and I-495
- Bridge deck work for new collector-distributor road over Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) and new Route 28 bridges over I-66
- Relocating waterlines at Jermantown Road and Gallows Road
- Constructing new utility duct bank and relocating underground utilities along I-66 East between Jermantown Road and Cedar Lane
- Constructing retaining walls along I-66 and Route 28
- Corridor-wide roadway maintenance as needed
Upcoming Lane Closures and Traffic Changes

ROUTE 29 / GAINESVILLE
No significant traffic impacts scheduled.
ROUTE 234 BUSINESS (SUDLEY ROAD) / MANASSAS
No significant traffic impacts scheduled.
ROUTE 28 (SULLY ROAD) / CENTREVILLE
Route 29 Centreville North and South at I-66
Friday, Dec. 20, and Saturday, Dec. 21: 10:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Sunday, Dec. 22: 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
Route 29 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction under I-66. Two-way traffic will run on Route 29 North during this period. Drivers using ramps to and from I-66 will not be allowed to make left turns during this time. Detours will be posted.
ROUTE 286 (FAIRFAX COUNTY PARKWAY) / FAIR LAKES
No significant traffic impacts scheduled.
ROUTE 50 / FAIRFAX

ROUTE 123 (CHAIN BRIDGE ROAD) / OAKTON – CITY OF FAIRFAX

ROUTE 243 (NUTLEY STREET) / VIENNA

I-495 (CAPITAL BELTWAY) / DUNN LORING
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 Express Lanes North and South
Thursday, Dec. 26, and Friday, Dec. 27: 9:30 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
The ramp from I-66 East to the I-495 North and South Express Lanes will be closed. Drivers will be directed to use the I-495 North and South general-purpose lanes.
