Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project construction continues throughout the corridor during daytime and overnight hours as weather conditions allow.
Significant upcoming traffic impacts include:
- During overnight hours the nights of July 27-31, I-66 West will be reduced to one travel lane approaching Waples Mill Road for overhead bridge work. On the nights of July 30-31, drivers should expect periodic stoppages of up to 30 minutes on I-66 West. I-66 East will be reduced to one travel lane the nights of July 30-31. Details
- During overnight hours the nights of July 27-31, I-66 West will be reduced to one travel lane between I-495 and Cedar Lane for bridge pier construction at Cedar Lane.

Current activities include:
- Paving on I-66 West in Prince William County, on Route 28 North in Centreville, and on I-66 East and West in Vienna
- Constructing bridge foundations at Route 29 (Lee Highway), Route 28, Route 50, Waples Mill Road, Jermantown Road, Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road), Cedar Lane, Gallows Road, and I-495
- Small charge dynamite operations along Route 28, and I-66 East and West near Route 28
- Bridge deck work for expanded bridge over Compton Road, Cub Run, new Route 28 bridges over I-66, new Route 123 bridge over I-66, and new Vaden Drive bridge over I-66
- Relocating utility duct bank and water lines at Stringfellow Road, Cedar Lane, and Gallows Road
- Relocating underground utilities along I-66 East and West
- Constructing retaining walls along I-66 and Route 28
- Corridor-wide roadway maintenance as needed

I-66 West from Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) to Route 29 Gainesville

Single and multi-lane closures will be implemented for extended paving operations. The HOV lane will be closed indefinitely. Between 12:00 noon and 8:00 p.m. daily, three travel lanes will be open to all traffic. Between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. nightly, three lanes will be closed, leaving one travel lane open. Between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon daily, two lanes will be closed, leaving two travel lanes open.

Stringfellow Road will be reduced to two lanes, one in each direction. The two open travel lanes will use the southbound lanes of Stringfellow Road under I-66. The HOV ramp from I-66 West to Stringfellow Road will be right-turn only from 8:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. To go southbound during those hours, drivers will be directed to turn right onto northbound Stringfellow Road and make a U-turn at Fair Lakes Boulevard.

The ramp will be closed for paving operations. Traffic will be directed to continue farther south on Gallows Road, stay to the left and make a U-turn at the traffic signal for the ramp to I-495 North, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-495 South.
