Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project construction continues throughout the corridor during daytime and overnight hours as weather conditions allow.
Significant upcoming traffic impacts include:
- Starting on/about June 24, the loop ramp from Nutley Street South to I-66 East will close. Drivers will access I-66 East by turning left at a temporary traffic signal onto a new ramp that merges with the existing ramp from northbound Nutley Street to I-66 East Details
- Daytime closure of the ramp from Nutley Street North to I-66 East (June 23) for overhead utility relocation Details
- I-66 East will be reduced to a single travel lane during overnight hours June 22-24 between Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) and Nutley Street for bridge beam installation at Vaden Drive. Drivers should expect multiple 30-minute stoppages nightly Details

- Bridge beam installation at Vaden Drive
- Paving on I-66 West in Prince William County, and on Route 28 North and South in Centreville
- Constructing bridge foundations at Route 29 (Lee Highway), Route 28, Route 50, Waples Mill Road, Jermantown Road, Route 123, Cedar Lane, Gallows Road, and I-495
- Small charge dynamite operations along Route 28, I-66 East and West near Route 28, and I-66 West near Route 234 Business (Sudley Road)
- Bridge deck work for expanded bridge over Compton Road, Cub Run, new Route 28 bridges over I-66, new Route 123 bridge over I-66
- Relocating water lines at Cedar Lane and Gallows Road
- Relocating underground utilities along I-66 East and West
- Constructing retaining walls along I-66 and Route 28
- Corridor-wide roadway maintenance as needed

ROUTE 29 / GAINESVILLE
I-66 West from Route 234 Business to Route 29 Gainesville

Single and multi-lane closures will be implemented for extended paving operations. The HOV lane will be closed indefinitely. Between 12:00 noon and 8:00 p.m. daily, three travel lanes will be open to all traffic. From 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. nightly, three lanes will be closed, leaving one travel lane open. Between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon daily, two lanes will be closed, leaving two travel lanes open.
ROUTE 234 BUSINESS (SUDLEY ROAD) / MANASSAS
I-66 West from Route 234 Business to Route 29 Gainesville

Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South
Monday, June 22, through Thursday, June 25: 10:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
The ramp will be closed. Drivers will be directed to continue farther west to Route 29 Centreville, turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 North, and follow signs to Route 28 South.
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North
Sunday, June 21, through Thursday, June 25: 12:00 Midnight to 4:00 a.m.
The ramp will be closed. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right for I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 28 North.

Tuesday, June 23, through Friday, June 26: 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

The ramp will be closed for overhead utility relocation. Drivers will be detoured to the exit for I-66 West, stay to the right for Nutley Street South, and then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.
I-66 East from Route 123 to Nutley Street

Monday, June 22, through Wednesday, June 24: 9:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
I-66 East will be reduced to one travel lane for bridge beam installation and crane mobilization at Vaden Drive near the Vienna Metrorail Station. On Friday night, June 19, Monday night, June 22, and Tuesday night, June 23, drivers should expected periodic 30-minute stoppages at Vaden Drive for crews to lift bridge beams into place.
I-66 West from Cedar Lane to west of Vaden Drive
Wednesday, June 24, and Thursday, June 25: 9:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
Friday, June 26: 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
I-66 West will be reduced to one travel lane for bridge beam installation and crane mobilization at Vaden Drive near the Vienna Metrorail Station. On Thursday night, June 25, and Friday night, June 26, drivers should expect periodic 30-minute stoppages at Vaden Drive for crews to lift bridge beams into place.
I-66 East and West between east of Nutley Street and west of Gallows Road
Tuesday, June 23, through Thursday, June 25: 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
