Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project construction continues throughout the corridor during daytime and overnight hours as weather conditions allow.
Significant upcoming traffic impacts include:
- There will be overnight closures of the ramp from Route 29 (Lee Highway) Centreville to I-66 East (October 13-16), I-66 East to Route 29 Centreville (October 13-16), and I-66 West to Nutley Street northbound (October 13-17). Details
- Prosperity Avenue eastbound will close between Dorr Avenue and Merrilee Drive for about four weeks (through November 9) beginning October 12 for underground utility work. The sidewalk will also be closed. Detours will be posted. Details
Current activities include:
- Paving on I-66 East and West in Prince William County and Centreville, and on I-66 East and West in Vienna
- Constructing bridge foundations at Route 28, Stringfellow Road, Route 50, Jermantown Road, Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road), and I-495
- Small charge dynamite operations along Braddock Road near Route 28, I-66 East and West near Route 28, and I-66 East and West near Groveton Road in Manassas
- Bridge deck work for expanded bridges over Compton Road, Cub Run, Bull Run, and Route 29 Centreville
- Bridge deck work for new bridges at Braddock Road/Walney Road over Route 28, and Waples Mill Road, Route 123, Vaden Drive, Cedar Lane, Gallows Road, and I-495 bridges over I-66
- Relocating underground utilities along I-66 East and West
- Constructing retaining walls along I-66 and Route 28
- Corridor-wide roadway maintenance as needed

ROUTE 29 (LEE HIGHWAY) / GAINESVILLE
I-66 East from Route 29 Gainesville to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road)

Single and multi-lane closures will be implemented for extended paving operations. The HOV lane will be closed indefinitely. Between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m. daily, three travel lanes will be open to traffic. Between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily, two lanes will be closed, leaving two travel lanes open. Between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. nightly, three lanes will be closed, leaving one travel lane open.
ROUTE 234 BUSINESS (SUDLEY ROAD) / MANASSAS
I-66 West from Bull Run to Route 234 Business

I-66 West will be reduced to one travel lane for paving and survey operations.
I-66 East from Route 29 Gainesville to Route 234 Business

The ramp will be closed. Traffic on Route 29 North will be directed farther north to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East. Traffic on Route 29 South will be directed to continue farther south, make a U-turn at Stone Road, then follow signs to I-66 East.

Tuesday night, October 13, through Friday night, October 16: Midnight to 4 a.m.
The ramp will be closed. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right for I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 29.

Eastbound Prosperity Avenue between Dorr Avenue and Merrilee Drive will be closed for underground utility work. The sidewalk in this area of Prosperity Avenue will also be closed. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be detoured south on Dorr Avenue, east on Merrifield Avenue, north on Merrilee Drive, back to Prosperity Avenue.
Dorr Avenue North at Prosperity Avenue

Dorr Avenue will be closed at Prosperity Avenue for underground utility work. Traffic will be detoured east on Merrifield Avenue, then north on Merrilee Drive to reach Prosperity Avenue. Dorr Avenue south of Prosperity Avenue will remain open to local traffic.
