Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project construction continues throughout the corridor during daytime and overnight hours as weather conditions allow.
Significant upcoming traffic impacts include:
- The current ramp from Route 28 North to I-66 East will close. Drivers on Route 28 North will access I-66 East using a new, temporary ramp located about 250 feet north on the right side of Route 28 North. Details
- During the overnight hours of September 30-October 2, I-66 West will be reduced to one travel lane with stoppages of up to 20 minutes between Blake Lane and Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) for overhead gantry removal. Details
- There will be overnight closures of the ramp from Route 29 (Lee Highway) North to Route 28 North (September 26-27), Route 29 South to Route 28 North (September 26-27), Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) to I-66 West (September 27–October 2), and I-66 West to Nutley Street (September 28–October 2). Current activities include:
- Paving on I-66 East and West in Prince William County and Centreville, and on I-66 East and West in Vienna
- Constructing bridge foundations at Route 28, Stringfellow Road, Route 50, Jermantown Road, Route 123, and I-495
- Small charge dynamite operations along Braddock Road, I-66 East and West near Route 28, and on I-66 East and West near Groveton Road in Manassas
- Bridge deck work for expanded bridges over Compton Road, Cub Run, Bull Run, and Route 29 Centreville
- Bridge deck work for new bridges at Braddock Road/Walney Road over Route 28, and Waples Mill Road, Route 123, Vaden Drive, Cedar Lane, and Gallows Road bridges over I-66
- Relocating underground utilities along I-66 East and West
- Constructing retaining walls along I-66 and Route 28
- Corridor-wide roadway maintenance as needed

ROUTE 29 (LEE HIGHWAY) / GAINESVILLE
I-66 East between Route 234 (Prince William Parkway) and Groveton Road

I-66 East from Route 29 Gainesville to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road)

Single and multi-lane closures will be implemented for extended paving operations. The HOV lane will be closed indefinitely. Between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m. daily, three travel lanes will be open to traffic. Between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily, two lanes will be closed, leaving two travel lanes open. Between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. nightly, three lanes will be closed, leaving one travel lane open.
ROUTE 234 BUSINESS (SUDLEY ROAD) / MANASSAS

Ramp from Route 234 Business North and South to I-66 West
Monday, September 28, through Friday, October 2: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The ramp will be closed. Traffic will be detoured north of I-66 to Route 29 South, travel about four miles, then follow signs to I-66 West. As an alternate route, drivers on Route 234 Business can go west on Balls Ford Road, turn right on to Route 234, then follow signs to I-66 West. Details
