I-95 Closures and Traffic Stoppages During Overnight Hours Monday, March 25

Multiple-lane closures and intermittent traffic stoppages in both directions on I-95 in Prince William County near mile marker 158 are scheduled again during overnight hours beginning at 9:30 p.m. on Monday, March 25, until 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26. The closures are needed for crews to continue lifting girders for the Opitz Boulevard bridge, which is being reconstructed as part of the 95 Express Lanes Opitz Boulevard Ramp project.

I-95 drivers should use alternate routes or allow extra time if traveling in the area.

Closure Details

March 25 9:30 p.m. Eastbound Opitz Boulevard

Right lane closure

10 p.m. 95/395 Express Lanes

Reversal begins (to northbound)

10 p.m. Northbound I-95 collector/distributor lanes

Double right lane closure

  10:30 p.m. Northbound I-95 general purpose lanes

Double right lane closure

11:30 p.m. 95 Express Lanes

Following reversal, open for northbound traffic to minimize congestion

Tolls lifted between Garrisonville Road and Gordon Blvd. (Route 123) for travelers who choose the diversion

March 26 12:30 a.m. and later Northbound I-95 general purpose and collector/distributor lanes

Minimum two 30-minute full stoppages

4 a.m. 95 Express Lanes

Tolling resumes

4:30 a.m. All lanes reopened


The 95 Express Lanes Opitz Boulevard Ramp Project involves constructing a south-facing, reversible ramp between the 95 Express Lanes and an expanded Opitz Boulevard (Route 2000) bridge. This project is being delivered as part of the 95 Express Lanes public-private partnership between the Commonwealth and Transurban.
