A new limited-edition* collection –SÄLLSKAP – will be available at IKEA U.S. stores starting this month. Inspired by the Scandinavian arts and crafts movement of the late 19th and early 20th century, the SÄLLSKAP collection features solid-wood furniture, textiles with traditional Swedish patterns and hand-painted dinnerware. For example:
- SÄLLSKAP dining table ($249) + SÄLLSKAP bench ($129): For the kitchen or dining room, the SÄLLSKAP dining table is made entirely of pine and designed for a space where the whole family can get together and enjoy beauty and quality, together – or in Swedish, “allrum” or “room for all.”
- SÄLLSKAP cushion covers ($6 – $10 each): Adding SÄLLSKAP cushion covers is an easy way to change a room and bring in a scent of updated country life. The traditional Swedish patterns and techniques, such as splash painting and ikat weave, feel as right in a contemporary context as in a traditional setting.
- SÄLLSKAP tableware: Hand-painted bowls and side plates are sure to add a twist to any dining occasion – and a good story! According to some folk traditions, a four-leaf clover in the bottom of a soup bowl brings good luck to the dinner crowd.
