Ramp and lane closures will occur on the 495 Express Lanes through May for crews to continue installing beams at the Jones Branch Connector bridge, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

From 11:00 p. m. until 4:00 a. m. Monday through Thursday nights (April 23-26, April 30–May 3, and May 7-10):

  • The northbound 495 Express lanes will be closed from north of Westpark Drive to north of the Jones Branch exit. Express Lanes traffic will be detoured via the Jones Branch exit ramp and back onto the Express Lanes via the Jones Branch entrance ramp.
  • The ramp from the northbound 495 Express Lanes to the westbound Dulles Toll Road will be closed.
  • The ramp from Jones Branch Drive to the 495 Express Lanes will be closed, however detours will be in place.
  • Northbound I-495 (the Inner Loop) will be restricted to two right lanes near Jones Branch Drive.

All work is weather permitting. Drivers are asked to expect delays and use alternate routes.

The work is part of the Jones Branch Connector project, which is scheduled to partially open to traffic in late 2018 with final completion in late 2019.
