da Vinci Si HD Surgical System® Delivers Advanced, Minimally Invasive Surgical Care to Our Community
Novant Health Prince William Medical Center unveiled its newest surgical technology, the da Vinci Si HD Surgical System® Thursday with a hands-on showcase. Attendees experienced what it’s like to control the robot’s movements and had the opportunity to meet the surgeons and staff who will use this new technology to deliver advanced minimally invasive surgical care.
A dozen specially trained surgeons who are board-certified in general surgery, gynecology and urology now have a new way of treating patients, including single-site surgery.
The da Vinci Surgical System is a tool that enables surgeons to perform complex surgical procedures with greater visualization and precision through integration of high-definition 3-D visualization and greater dexterity. The surgical system is equipped with three arms and a high-definition scope, which enables surgery through small incisions and even a single incision for some surgical procedures. Patient benefits may include significantly less pain, a shorter hospital stay, less blood loss, faster recovery time, less scaring and better clinical outcomes.
“Patients expect high quality care that uses the latest technology and that is why we’re delighted to offer this world-class technology right here in our community to help patients get better faster closer to home,” said Beatrice Holt, chief operating officer of Novant Health Prince William Medical Center and chief nursing officer of Novant Health northern Virginia market.
Patients who need surgery can be assured they have access to the most advanced minimally invasive technology. This surgical approach can be used for the following conditions and procedures: fibroids, gall bladder removal, hysterectomy, kidney cancer/removal, pelvic organ prolapse and prostate cancer/removal.
