Featherstone Elementary School recently welcomed child author Kennedy O’Neal. At age 5, Kennedy and her father Chris wrote “The Adventures of Super Kennedy: Saving & Investing.”

Kindergarteners and first-graders read Kennedy’s book this past March during Virginia Reads One Book. This is an initiative promoted by Read to Team, a Richmond-based nonprofit organization. Ten lucky students won a copy of the book and the chance to have their picture taken with the child author.

The book was inspired by Kennedy’s interest in earning and saving money, something she has learned from her father, who is an avid real estate investor. The story also shares lessons about investing and building financial wealth.

The now-6-year-old author has sold over 10,000 copies of her book. Along with visiting schools, she has appeared on television talk shows.

Principal Daria Groover said, “Students enjoyed meeting an author who is also in elementary school.”
