The Haymarket Gainesville Business Association (HGBA) awarded Jason Shriner of Manassas Park Community Center with the 2018 Business Person of Year award. This is the second year HGBA has awarded the Business Person of the Year award, given to an HGBA member who has achieved both business success and contributed to the local community. Shriner, Marketing Manager of the Manassas Park Department of Parks and Recreation, earned the Prince William Chamber of Commerce’s Innovative Practice/Partnership of the Year award in 2017 and assisted in re-organizing his marketing department.
Shriner is also committed to his community, as an advocate of PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) community), where he has been a youth facilitator since 2013. He facilitates monthly LGBTQ youth socials at the Manassas Park Community Center. He also participates in the Suicide Prevention Alliance of Northern Virginia (SPAN) LGBT Committee helping to provide access to suicide prevention resources.
Shriner is active in the Prince William Chamber of Commerce as co-chair for the Young Professionals of Northern Virginia (YPNOVA) committee, and also steers the marketing committee for Court-appointed Special Advocates (CASA). He’s also on the HGBA marketing committee and was a panelist for HGBA’s event on social media for business.
