Bukva has been recognized as a Certified Master Athletic Administrator by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA). He was also recently appointed to the Board of Directors for the Virginia Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association as the middle school committee chair.

Bukva is the first in the School Division to earn this distinction. He is among only 33 in Virginia and approximately 1,000 across the U.S. to hold the CMAA certification for athletic directors. The master certification process involves advanced education and experience in the field. It includes NIAAA leadership courses and other professional contributions, and culminates in a written and oral evaluation.

The NIAAA is a national professional organization consisting of all 50 state athletic administrator associations. It has more than 12,000 individual members. The NIAAA is dedicated to promoting the professional growth of high school athletic administrators and preserving the educational nature of interscholastic athletics and the place of these programs in the secondary school curriculum.
