Prince William County Parks, Recreation & Tourism, in coordination with the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA), which is the leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to building strong, healthy and resilient communities through the power of parks and recreation, will celebrate “Park and Recreation Month 2021: Our Park and Recreation Story.”
Every person has a park story. Parks are places to gather with friends and family, spaces to celebrate life’s special moments and spots of respite and healing. Local parks have been essential throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Every park has a history made up of thousands of stories that help define it. Parks are at the center of so many experiences and memories — moments that park and recreation professionals help make happen. Local parks are often individuals’ first experiences in nature, an introduction to a favorite hobby or physical activity, a place to learn local history and culture, and a favorite place to learn about science.
Throughout the month of July, the Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism will showcase “Our Park and Recreation Story” on the department’s social media platforms.
