Keep Virginia Beautiful, Inc. is accepting grant applications from groups all across the Commonwealth who want to make a difference in their community.  Applications for the 30 Grants in Thirty Days initiative are being accepted through April 30, with the thirty awards being announced one each day in the month of June.

Since 2011, Keep Virginia Beautiful has provided over $178,000 to fund 230 programs and projects throughout the state, through the generosity of Altria and Keep America Beautiful.

You can submit a proposal for a program or project in four categories:  Litter Prevention, Recycling, Community Beautification, or Cigarette Litter Prevention.  “We’ve funded civic groups who started or expanded recycling programs, and equipped homeowner associations to hold litter cleanups in their neighborhood.” said Mike Baum, Executive Director.  “We had a group last year that turned broken pottery that would have gone to the landfill into a mosaic wall.  There are many opportunities to get creative and get active!”

Keep Virginia Beautiful’s website has more to offer in addition to the online grant application.  You can enter to win a personal Cleanup Kit as part of their 65th Anniversary celebration.  The first ten kits will be given away on Earth Day.  You can also learn more about Adopt-a-Highway, a free program that helps you pick up litter on the roads near your business or home.

The mission at Keep Virginia Beautiful is to engage and unite Virginians to improve our natural and scenic environment.
