Left-turn lane detour lifted before Labor Day weekend; work continues on overpass |
FAIRFAX: On Friday, Aug. 29, VDOT announced that the left-turn lanes connecting the Franconia-Springfield Parkway (Route 289) and the I-95 North and South High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes have been reopened. To troubleshoot any issues on the HOV signals or gates, VDOT may close single lanes o
n the Franconia-Springfield Parkway (Route 289) throughout the weekend, August 29 – September 1. Motorists accessing the HOV lanes to and from the Franconia-Springfield Parkway (Route 289) will no longer follow a detour, which had been in place since early August. In the coming months, motorists should expect ongoing lane closures in this area during non-peak commute times to complete the remaining work. The 95 Express Lanes are more than 85 percent complete, and on-track to be completed by the end of the year and open in early 2015. The 95 Express Lanes will use dynamic tolls to keep traffic flowing and provide a more predictable travel option on I-95/395 between Route 610 in Stafford County to just north of I-495. The 95 Express Lanes are being delivered through a public-private partnership between VDOT and Transurban-Fluor.
