On September 25th 2015, Linton Hall School’s Fife & Drum Corps performed for more than 700 people during Senator Chuck Colgan’s Tribute Gala held at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. In attendance were many dignitaries including Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe as well as six former Virginia governors: Bob McDonnell, Tim Kaine, Mark Warner, George Allen, Douglas Wilder, and Charles Robb.

In formation at the front of the Hylton Performing Arts Center, the Fife & Drum Corps played eight songs including standards such as “Yankee Doodle”, “The Girl I Left Behind Me”, and “Amazing Grace.” The Fife and Drum Corps even performed an intricate drum solo, demonstrating modern drumming techniques.

“I was honored to have such talented and patriotic young people perform at the tribute gala. Their commitment to continuing the rich history of Linton Hall School’s Fife & Drum Corps made a lasting impression on me and all of those who were in attendance,” said Senator Colgan.

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe was one of those for whom the Fife & Drum Corps made a lasting impression. In fact, he invited them to perform at the Governor’s mansion in Richmond.

The Linton Hall Fife & Drum Corps is under the direction of Georgia Graves.
