Literacy Volunteers of America-Prince William, Inc. (LVA-PW), held its 3rd annual “Food for Thought – A Taste of Prince William” Dinner and Trivia Night on Wednesday June 1, 2016 at the VFW Post 1503 in Dale City. This year’s event raised over $14,000 to help provide critical literacy services for low-income adults in the community.

Throughout the evening, over 250 participants enjoyed menu items donated by more than 30 local restaurants. Many restaurants provided their own servers, and volunteers from CarMax Woodbridge also assisted in the evening’s activities. Guests had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win one of over 25 gift baskets. Door prizes included gift cards donated by numerous area restaurants and a grand door prize of a Kindle reader. The evening featured a fun-filled game of trivia, hosted by Ken Ikeda, President of the Board of Directors.

Long-time LVA-PW volunteer Patti Beattie summarized the evening this way, “It was heart-warming and inspiring to see students and their families, staff, volunteers, businesses, and other supporters join together not only to make a connection and share the impacts of this critical program, but to raise the awareness and support needed to carry it forward. If you’re not already involved in a meaningful community experience, or if you have time for more, consider LVA-PW. You’ll be glad you did!”

LVA-PW is an award-winning adult literacy non-profit, serving the community for over 25 years, offering classes in basic reading and writing, English as a Second Language, GED preparation, civics and citizenship, computer literacy, conversation classes, job readiness and an all new Confidence Course.
