One in four pregnancies end in miscarriage; most of those happen within the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.  About 2-3% of pregnancies are lost during the second trimester, while another 1% of pregnancies are stillbirths.  Pregnancy loss happens more often than we know or talk about.  After experiencing both a first trimester miscarriage in 2016 and a second trimester loss in 2017, Charie and Delvon Combo of Woodbridge decided to push through the pain of each loss. They have developed a way to assist others in their community who have experienced the same or similar loss.

The couple recently launched their nonprofit organization Alaina’s Gift Inc.  Alaina’s Gift Inc. hosted its first fundraiser on May 4 in Portsmouth, Virginia, titled Mommy & Me 5k Run/Walk.  The nonprofit organization is getting ready to host a second 5k the Occoquan Regional Park. “Remembering Our Angels 5k Walk/Run” will be held on Oct. 5 from 7:30 to 11:00 a.m.

The “Remembering Our Angels 5k Walk/Run” is dedicated to women who have loss a pregnancy or infant.  It is open to all those moms, dads and families who have ever lost a loved one. Their Angels will be honored and celebrated on this day.

Alaina’s Gift invites all who have ever experienced such a tragic loss themselves or are a part of a family that has encountered this loss to come out on Oct.  5.  All money raised will benefit the programs of Alaina’s Gift Inc.  Their goal is to reach people who are truly in need of their services.  If you or someone you know wants to be a vendor or sponsor, please contact the organization’s Founder at 757-284-9462.  For tickets visit runsignup.com/angelswalk19.
