Lots of Holiday Activities Planned for the Entire Family This December

The Prince William County Public Libraries, the Historic Preservation Division and the Parks and Recreation Department have lots of events planned for December.  PWL Here are the highlights.

Libraries:

·        Santa Claus will be stopping by Independent Hill, Lake Ridge, Nokesville, Dale City, and Dumfries neighborhood libraries throughout the month of December. Check out the Library website for dates, times and locations.  

·        Central Community Library, at 8601 Mathis Ave. in Manassas, will host Colonial English Hand Bell Ringers at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12.

·        Resounding Joy, the hand bell choir from All Saints’ Church in Manassas, will perform at Haymarket Gainesville Community Library at 14870 Lightner Road at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13.

·        “Let it snow, man!” The Kaydee Puppets’ holiday show is at Central Community Library at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17. The show tells the story of poor Mr. Snowman, who is asked to take care of Santa’s workshop only to have things go awry.

Historic Properties:

·        Take a trip to Rippon Lodge, at 15520 Blackburn Road in Woodbridge, to see Santa when he visits the lodge at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12. Wrap up the day with a visit to the Historic Union Church at the Brentsville Historic Centre at 12229 Bristow Road to hear the Brentsville District High School Choir’s free holiday concert from 5-7 p.m.  

·        See how Christmas was celebrated from the 1820s to the present during the Holidays at Rippon Lodge, which happen every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in December.

Parks:

·        “Drop to Shop” will be in effect throughout December at several parks locations. For $30, shoppers can drop off their children at the community center at Veterans Park, 14300 Veterans Drive in Woodbridge, between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 5, 12 and 19. On Dec. 12, the Chinn Park Aquatics and Fitness Center, 13065 Chinn Park Drive, will be accepting kids from6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for $10 each.
