CASA CIS (Court Appointed Special Advocates, Children’s Intervention Services), invites one and all to an afternoon of bonding, bowling and making the world a better place, during its annual Retro Bowl on May 12, 1:00 to 4:00 p. m. at Bowl America, 9000 Mathis Avenue, Manassas. This year’s Retro Bowl will serve as the unveiling for a new giving program, designed to let anybody connect with the group’s important mission.
Sponsored by Wine Energy, the bowling tournament enables participants to support CASA’s work with neglected and abused children in our community. The nonprofit trains and manages a network of volunteer advocates in Prince William, Fauquier, Loudoun and Rappahannock counties, who watch over the children’s safety and needs, and provide them with a voice in court. It cost approximately $1,650 per year to provide a child with an advocate. This offsets the cost to recruit, train and supervise these critical volunteers. CASA expects to serve 400 children this year.
“We are grateful for the widespread community support CASA currently enjoys. Growing our team of advocates allows us to reach more children in need of our help,” said CASA Executive Director Pam Ryan.
“When people hear the stories of these children, what they endure, they are moved to make a difference,” said Ryan. “But being an advocate takes a commitment of time and energy that most people simply do not have. Our new program will allow anybody to make an ongoing difference, in a very tangible way.”
Retro Bowl will also feature raffles, door prizes, trophies and prizes. Registration is $200 for a team of five, and can be completed online at casacis.org/events. To register individually, or showcase support of CASA as a sponsor, call 703-330-8145 or email retrobowl@casacis.org.
