Business Spotlight: Family Beeginnings

Family Beeginnings is an Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) clinic serving children and young adults with autism and other developmental disabilities in the Manassas area. Company founder and president Isma “Jessie” Coleman, and clinical director Sara Cardona are both board certified and licensed behavioral analysts, specializing in applied behavioral analysis. They recently opened the business to serve a distinct need in the community: bridging a gap in care between families and the public school system.
“Providing personalized care to individuals, particularly children, with disabilities can be very difficult. In our case, we work with children who may be nonverbal and they can be easily overstimulated, or struggle with basic interactions at home – let alone school.”
Jessie and her team held a ribbon cutting on July 2 at their newly purchased and self-renovated building in Sudley medical corridor – one of the City’s commercial corridors seeing significant reinvestment. Their central location in Manassas allows the quickly growing practice to access what Jessie considers an underserved market in the City and the larger surrounding counties outside the beltway.
Understanding that having quality staff to provide specialized individual care and treatment would be the key to their success, the pair developed an internal employee training program to help grow the practice. In just over a year, Family Beeginnings has grown from two employees to over 23.
Their training program, Pathways to Team Bee, provides paid, hands-on vertical training and immersion in data-driven clinical treatments and behavioral analysis. “We realized we could take staff who didn’t necessarily have formal training, embed them within certain patient care roles, and provide a pathway to formal certifications that could benefit themselves and Team Bee” said Jessie.

Partner Spotlight: Full Employment Program

Full Employment Program
Looking to hire job-ready employees while supporting your community? The Full Employment Program (FEP) incentivizes employers to hire individuals enrolled in certain Virginia Social Service programs, transitioning them away from public benefits and towards participation in the local economy.
The program promotes self-sufficiency with new hires earning a living wage, increasing their career-related work skills, and improving their competitiveness in the labor market.
For employers, the FEP program provides subsidized employment to help offset costs of the new hire, with up to $1,000.00 per eligible employee for 6 months (depending on the number of hours an employee works).
