On Feb. 25, the Manassas City Police Department released the 2018 Annual Report during Chief Douglas W. Keen’s presentation to City Council.

The release of the Annual Report helps citizens stay informed about crime in their community through analysis of regional and local crime data. In addition, the Annual Report highlights numerous significant agency achievements in the areas of crime prevention, community outreach, and operational efficiency. Information included in the Annual Report helps direct enforcement efforts and guides the creation of enforcement initiatives for 2019. Finally, the Annual Report increases transparency and furthers the Manassas City Police Department’s commitment to providing excellent police services to the community.

During the presentation, Chief Keen thanked staff for “their tireless efforts, hard work and professionalism”. Chief Keen noted that overall serious and violent crime decreased by 19% and all crime decreased 9% in the City of Manassas in 2018. Concluding his presentation, Chief Keen also spoke on the department’s positive relationship with the community that can be attributed to the agency’s commitment to “practicing and embracing fair and impartial policing and setting high professional standards”.
