The School Board of the City of Manassas announced today that it will begin the process of hiring a new superintendent by seeking public input on qualifications. The search follows the announcement of the retirement of current Superintendent, Catherine Magouyrk, effective June 30, 2018.

The School Board has created a survey related to superintendent criteria, which is available at surveymonkey.com/r/ManassasSearch, and will be posted on the home page of the division web site. Hard copies of the survey will also be available at the central office, each school office, and upon request.

In addition to the survey, the Board will hold a public hearing on Jan. 9, 2018 at 7:00 p. m. at City Hall (9027 Center St., Manassas).

“Hiring a new superintendent is the biggest task a school board will face and we want to make sure that the public has a voice in this process,” said School Board Chairman Tim Demeria, “We hope that parents, staff and residents will take time to fill out the survey or attend the scheduled public hearing.”

The School Board selected the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) to assist the board with the superintendent search.  A timeline for the search is:
