As the Greater Manassas Christmas Parade enters its 79th year, the community celebrates a familiar face whose dedication has helped shape the city’s business and civic landscape. The 2025 Man of the Year, Miguel Pires, Founder and CEO of Great Eats Hospitality, is known across the region for his commitment to building relationships, fostering collaboration, and strengthening Old Town’s identity.
For Pires, the recognition carries both emotional and professional significance. “Being named the 2025 Greater Manassas Parade Man of the Year is both humbling and deeply meaningful,” he says. Growing up in Manassas and now raising his family here has given him a strong sense of belonging. The award, he notes, reflects the power of community support and the importance of showing up for one another. “This recognition reflects not just my efforts, but the support of many people who have encouraged me along the way.”
Pires’ leadership style is grounded in connecting people. He has long believed that Manassas thrives when business owners, residents, and city partners communicate openly. His presence across many circles, restaurants, the Portuguese community, Historic Manassas Inc., the Prince William Chamber, real estate, and city advisory groups has positioned him as someone who spots opportunities for collaboration. “A lot of problems get solved just by getting the right people together,” he explains. Making introductions and opening doors, he says, strengthens the city and encourages growth that benefits everyone.
Launching Zandra’s Taqueria in 2014 remains one of the most influential steps in his journey. Pires credits his participation in Leadership Prince William for giving him the confidence to move forward. Being among respected leaders in the program helped him realize he was ready to take the leap. His earlier work at Carmello’s and in developing the Monza concept built the skills he needed to start something of his own. “Opening Zandra’s ultimately strengthened my connection to this region in ways I didn’t expect,” he shares. It provided the foundation for his ongoing work to support Manassas as it evolves.
As the 2025 parade prepares to march through Old Town with its “Elfin’ Around Old Town” theme, Pires’ story reflects the spirit of the event: community, tradition, and a shared love for the place so many call home.
