To commemorate the one-year anniversary of the first SONIC® Drive-In in Manassas, the drive-in is hosting a guest appreciation weekend. Guests are invited to join the team at the Manassas Drive-In, where swag and other surprises will be given to guests. Additionally, a portion of proceeds for any in-person purchase made from Sept. 18 to 20 will be donated to The Martin K. Alloy Boys & Girls Club of Manassas.

To further extend the appreciation for the community, co-franchisees Steven Covey and Jerome Johnson are making a generous donation to the Grace Church. Additionally, Covey and Johnson are donating $25 to all Manassas public school teacher requests on DonorsChoose. That is SONIC’s longtime Limeades for Learning nonprofit partner that supports public school teachers and students through much-needed supplies and learning resources. With more than 20 requests from Manassas teachers on DonorsChoose, the donations will help teachers access much-needed learning supplies.

“Our one-year anniversary is a testament that Prince William County and our guests have warmly welcomed us to the community,” said Covey and Johnson. “We’re beyond thankful for the amount of support our guests have shown us since the day we opened, and we want to embrace them by giving back. We are grateful to be a part of the Manassas community … [It’s our] goal to … provide guests with the best dining experience, … and help in any way that we can.”

From donating meals to two local homeless shelters to other community support initiatives, Covey and Johnson have a history of engaging in philanthropic efforts. The guest appreciation weekend a natural extension of those efforts.

In addition to Covey and Johnson’s donation to Manassas teachers, SONIC is kicking off its annual Limeades for Learning Fall Voting campaign. The campaign runs from Sept. 28 through Oct. 25, giving teachers the opportunity to receive funding for learning supplies. Guests are encouraged to vote for their favorite teacher requests on for SONIC to donate $1 million toward the requests.*
